Card game box
For this box I chose to work with solid bird’s-eye maple, pear and birch. The bird’s-eye maple has a very fine grain which matches well with the warm colour of the pearwood. The birch is used for the bottoms of the box and trays. All wood has been handplaned and scraped.
The joints are machinecut dovetails with a loose key.
The corners of the box have a slanting, chamfered edge, making the box seem tapered towards the bottom, while actually being square. The special shape of the legs is accentuated by using a pear edgeband.
Dimensions: 26 x 18 x 22 cm.
